We are currently in need of sponsors to help cover the cost of farrier expenses. All of our horses and donkeys get their hooves trimmed every 6 weeks. This is very important to our equines health as without their hooves, they cannot get around. It is very bad for any equine to lay down for long periods of time as it cuts off the circulation to their legs, so maintaining their hooves is an essential part of their care. Our farrier is exceptional and has helped us save many of our equines by corrective trimming and shoeing when needed, and maintaining their hooves. As you can see in the picture below, our equines love our farrier.
Each equine costs $50 every 6 weeks to get their hooves trimmed which equals $30 per month per equine.
NO HOOF. NO HORSE...!!!
Bailey is a Missouri Foxtrotter, Palomino mare. Bailey came to us underweight with chronic diarrhea. Bailey is on a very strict diet that has helped her gain weight and her diarrhea has almost completely gone away. Her coat is now a beautiful golden color and Bailey is very sweet to all who handle her. We put Gus with Bailey as a companion and they have become great friends. Bailey is a senior mare and is a permanent resident at WAR.
Bailey is sponsored by Linda Rivera.
Thank you for helping to provide Bailey with a long and happy life at W.A.R.
Nelson is a tiny miniature donkey that came to us with 5 miniature horses and a pony. Nelson loves his humans but he is very aggressive towards other equines. Nelson spent his earlier years running with a herd as an intact donkey so he learned to fight. Nelson is an extremely vocal donkey and his brays echo off our barn roof.
Nelson is a permanent resident due to his aggressive behavior with other equines.
Nelson is in need of an additional sponsor to cover his farrier cost of $30 per month. Whether you sponsor $10, $20 or $30 per month, it all adds up to make a difference in our equines lives.
Nelson is sponsored by Barbara Moore.

Mushoo is an adorable miniature gelding that was found running loose on a road. Mushoo had an embedded halter and injuries to his back legs. The halter that Mushoo was wearing was so small, and had been on him for so long, that his skin had grown around and over the halter (embedded) so it had to be surgically removed. Mushoo is quite a character and tends to test new people by biting. Once he learns that he cannot push you around, Mushoo is very sweet and affectionate. Mushoo has done parades and awareness events and is a great asset to W.A.R.
Mushoo is in need of an additional sponsor to cover his farrier cost of $30 per month. Whether you sponsor $10, $20 or $30 per month, it all adds up to make a difference in our equines lives.
Mushoo is sponsored by Aleyda Rincon.

Harley is a beautiful donkey with a curly coat and soft mane. Harley was found abandoned with a pony. Both of them had excessively long hooves that were curled over 8". After being examined by our vet, x-rays showed that both Harley and the pony were foundered and the pony had to be put down. Harley's joints had fused so we were able to save her. Harley walks with a limp as she cannot flex the lower part of her front legs, but she happily ambles around the property with Widget and Boots. Harley is under regular farrier care to prevent any hoof rotation. Harley is a little wild as Jo cannot train her due to her disability. She can be extremely affectionate one minute and a quite ornery the next.
Harley is in need of an additional sponsor to cover her farrier cost of $30 per month. Whether you sponsor $10, $20 or $30 per month, it all adds up to make a difference in our equines lives.

Boots is a Jenny donkey who was unwanted. Boots is an absolutely lovely donkey who loves a good scratch and her ears rubbed. Boots runs our property with Harley and Widget. Boots is Harley's protector. Harley is disabled and lays down quite a bit and Boots watches over her.
Boots is in need of an additional sponsor to cover her farrier cost of $30 per month. Whether you sponsor $10, $20 or $30 per month, it all adds up to make a difference in our equines lives.
Boots is sponsored by Bonnie Seal, Sherry Jones, Nelda Criswell, and Linda McCurdy.

Button is a miniature donkey who was found running loose on a road with a jack donkey. Button was only a couple of months old and had been separated from her mother. Buttons owner had passed away and the owners child/children did not want them and turned them loose on the road. Button only weighed approximately 20 lbs. We needed a safe equine to put Button with, so we slowly introduced Button to Jack, our QH gelding who is very gentle and suffers from depression. Jack will stop eating when he gets depressed. Giving him Button to care for, gave Jack a job and Button a safe place. Button and Jack have been inseparable and now that Jack is older, Button takes care of him.
Button is sponsored by Sherry Symington.
Thank you for helping to provide Button with a long and happy life at W.A.R.
